Grieving Father Of Late Cruzie Cries Out, Demands Justice

The grieving father of a 27-year-old Daniel Ayama, also known as Cruzie Vibes, whose life was tragically cut short under mysterious circumstances in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, has broken his silence, calling for justice.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Friday May 16, 2025, has left Yenagoa residents in shock and mourning. It was gathered that Cruzie was a student of Federal University Otuoke and a popular artiste in Yenagoa,

In an emotional interview, Mr. Ayama described his son as a “promising young man with dreams and aspirations,” lamenting the pain of losing him so suddenly. “His life was cut short, and we deserve to know why,” he said, urging authorities to investigate the incident and bring those responsible to book.

He expressed deep dissatisfaction with the initial handling of the case by local authorities and urged the police to leave no stone unturned in uncovering the truth behind their son’s death. “We need justice for our son,” Mr. Ayama stated.

According to the Bayelsa State Police Command, Daniel Ayama and three others, Peremoboi Anthony (27), Betty Captain Vivian, and Emmanuel Ebanipere (28), were returning from a birthday party when unknown assailants ambushed them in an unmarked Hilux vehicle at INEC Junction in Yenagoa. Ayama was shot dead, while the others sustained injuries and were taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Yenagoa for treatment.

The police spokesman, DSP Musa Mohammed, said in a statement that the Command had commenced an investigation into the incident, which they suspected was linked to intra-cult rivalry. According to him, a black Toyota Lexus SUV riddled with bullet holes was recovered by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit in the Swali area of Yenagoa.

“The Command is actively working with public spirited individuals who have already provided valuable information to assist in identifying and apprehending the perpetrators of this violent act. The Bayelsa State Police Command assures the public that thorough investigations are ongoing and further updates will be communicated as they unfold,” he assured.

Meanwhile, civil society organisations, community leaders, friends and well meaning Bayelsans have joined the Ayama family in their call for justice. A peaceful protest has been scheduled for Friday, May 23, 2025, tagged #JUSTICEFORCRUZIE, to demand for a transparent and thorough investigation, end police brutality in Bayelsa and to prioritize security in the state.
