A group, Concerned Citizens for Good Leadership and Sustainable Development Initiative (CCGLSDi) has faulted Borno South Senator, Ali Ndume, for saying that Senator-elect Abdulaziz Yari’s qualification to run for the position of the Senate president was only his money.
The group’s national secretary, Hon. Danasabe Suleiman Kakanda, who spoke on Monday, after a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the group in Abuja, said Ndume, being the campaign coordinator of Senate President aspirant, Senator Godswill Akpabio, should be mindful of his utterances.
Kakanda said Yari remains the best candidate to lead the 10th Senate to greater height and unite every member of the red chamber because he has what it takes to become the next Senate President.
“Looking at Senator Yari’s antecedents, he is a former legislator, former governor and former chairman of the Governors’ Forum and former state secretary of the party (ANPP), and a former national financial secretary of the party.
“All these are enough to qualify him to become Senate President. Above all, his party loyalty is unquestionable against his other contenders for the seat. So, anybody that is saying he is not qualified to lead the Senate does not know what he is saying.
“We are calling on the attention of Ndume, being the campaign coordinator for Akpabio to be mindful of his utterances bearing in mind that he is a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“They have seen a sign that Yari is gaining support from the other Senators. So, Ndume should also join hands with Senator Yari in actualising the dreams of President Bola Tinubu to make Nigeria great again,” he stated.
In attendance at the meeting were the national coordinator, Umaru Musa Bodinga; national organizing secretary, Haliru Abubakar Sifawa; national treasurer, Murtala Isiaku Jangebe; national woman leader, Uchenna Obiefule, and the national legal adviser, Aisha Muhammed Jumare, among other members.
