A pan-political group, Public Enlightenment Movement (PEM), has launched Phase 4 of its nationwide awareness campaign, aimed at highlighting federal government projects and policies under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly across Northern Nigeria.

Speaking during the unveiling of the projects in Kano on Thursday, the Coordinator of the Movement, Nuhu Abdullahi, said the initiative was designed to counter what he described as “misleading narratives” suggesting that the current administration has neglected the North.

Abdullahi said the Movement is committed to presenting verifiable facts and evidence of ongoing and completed projects, noting that the campaign draws its credibility from respected community leaders, professionals and media practitioners involved in its execution.

Among the major infrastructure highlighted are the 1,068-kilometre Ilela (Sokoto State) to Badagry highway, described as a concrete dual carriageway, and long-abandoned road projects linking Gembu to the Cameroon border, as well as Adamawa–Fufore–Mubi–Cameroon routes. He said several of the roads had remained unattended for decades until the Tinubu administration.

He also cited progress on inherited projects, including the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) gas pipeline, which he said has moved from about 30–40 per cent completion to nearly 95 per cent, as well as ongoing railway projects linking Kano to Kaduna and Abuja, and Kano to the Niger Republic.

According to Abdullahi, Phase 4 further showcases developments in health, education, humanitarian response, transportation and the economy. These include federal interventions at the Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa Memorial Teaching Hospital, expansion of Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital in Yola, and the conversion of the Sir Patrick Yakowa Memorial School in Kafanchan into a Federal Medical Centre.

In education, he highlighted the upgrade of the Federal College of Education, Zaria, to a Federal University of Education, and plans for a Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia.

The campaign also introduces Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to ease transportation costs following the president’s removal of the fuel subsidy.

Abdullahi said the campaign, which involves traditional media, social media influencers, entertainers, and community stakeholders, will be expanded to the state, local government, and ward levels.

“Our objective is to ensure factual information reaches the grassroots,” he said, adding that the Movement believes informed citizens can make responsible civic decisions ahead of future elections.
