A rights group, the Niger Delta Rights Advocates (NDRA), has called for the prosecution of groups accusing the minister of Interior, Hon. Olubumni Tunji-Ojo, of forging the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate.
The group also issued a seven-day ultimatum to the accusers, which include, the Accountability Front for Justice and Good Governance; the National Youth Reform Coalition; the Civil Action Network for Transparency; the Police Integrity Movement; the Nigeria Integrity Movement; the Integrity and Transparency Alliance and the Centre for Leadership Legacy, to ender a public apology to the minister.
Addressing journalists in Port Harcourt yesterday, spokesman of NDRA, Darlington Nwauju, insisted that the seven groups founded by one Isaiah Davies Ijele, were not registered.
Nwauju said: “We have offered more grounds upon which these politically sponsored non-governmental individuals masquerading as civil society, can make logical claims that can shoot down our arguments here today in the face of the time-tested aphorism that ‘he that alleges must show proof:.
“We want to confirm to the press today, that to show evidence that the arrow head of the malicious and defamatory allegations against Dr Tunji-Ojo, one Mr Isaiah Davies Ijele from Kogi state, is the president, founder and proprietor of the following unregistered groups with which he orchestrates various schemes against high net-worth individuals –Accountability Front for Justice & Good Governance;National Youth Reform Coalition;Civil Action Network for Transparency;Police Integrity Movement;Nigeria Integrity Movement;Integrity and Transparency Alliance;Centre for Leadership Legacy.
“In the light of the severity and weight of the allegations this young man and his sponsors are propagating to the Nigerian public, we hereby issue a seven day notice, effective from today 25th December 2025, for all the evidences of forgery against Dr Tunji-Ojo to be published, failing which we shall proceed to formally request relevant authorities to investigate and prosecute this extortionist who from credible information available to us, is a person of questionable character who survives through “dramatized sophistry and teleguided political opportunism”.
“Specifically, on 17/10/25 a so called petition with reference no AFJGG/CC/001 was sent to the Code of Conduct Bureau and Presidency demanding the investigation of Dr Tunji-Ojo.
“Curiously, the three organisations that were used to write this petition all linked to same individual (Mr Isaiah Davies Ijele), were only engaging in any visible “civil society campaign” for the very first time with Dr Tunji-Ojo as person of interest! How come organisations with zero track records suddenly jumped into discussing or petitioning just one person?
“When were such groups created? When were they registered? Who are trustees or executives of such groups? A simple search of the CAC portal exposes the fact that these are pseudo groups created for the singular purpose of extorting the Interior Minister.
“From our independent investigations, the Minister was remobilized in 2019 but his discharge certificate was omitted in the certificate printing application which was no fault of his and of course such administrative lapses occur every now and again given the volume of graduates the Corps grapples with at every cycle.
“The Minister therefore wrote to the NYSC Management sometime on October 18 2022 demanding his original certificate which was only delivered to him February 28 2023. This fact was also corroborated by the investigative journalism carried out by Premium Times pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act.
“Shamelessly, this individual, his collaborators and sponsors have not ceased from defaming the Minister who is a bonafide son of the Niger Delta and infact, the most productive on the current cabinet of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Therefore, we cannot afford to sacrifice one of our best on the altar of sponsored media campaigns nor abandon him to the ferocious attacks of enemies of excellence and sterling performance.
“We make bold to say that policies framed under his watch at the Ministry of Interior has for the first time turned that Ministry to the most efficient in terms of service delivery and this Ministry justifies daily, taxpayers’ money.
“Nigeria as at today stands at a GDP of over $286billion at a growth rate of 3-4%; policies that stimulate economic growth like creation of productive jobs, human capital development and incentivizing personnel working under the four paramilitary agencies under this Ministry has greatly contributed in the push to reflate our economy.”
