Group Tasks Cross River On Funds For GBV Prevention

The Centre for Gender Economics in Africa (CGE Africa) has charged the Cross River State government to expedite action on the release of funds budgeted for the implementation of gender-based violence prevention and mitigation programmes as approved in the state’s budget.

Executive director of the organisation, Uchenna Idoko, gave the charge while presenting a brief to the Cross River State Accountant General (AG), Dr Glory Effiong, during an advocacy visit to the AG’s office at the weekend in Calabar.

Idoko who spoke on “Gender Responsive Budgeting for Gender-based Violence Prevention and Mitigation in Cross River State,” solicited support of the state government on the task ahead.
The executive director, represented by the programme manager, Regina Solomon, said, “Championing the integration of GRB principles in the financial management practices of Cross River State.”

In her reaction, Accountant General of the state, Glory Effiong, assured the group of the administration’s willingness to assist them on the fight against GBV against women and children.
