Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) has assured of peaceful elections on Saturday, February 25, 2023 in Bauchi State and called on political parties to play by the rules.

The chairman of the ICCES and Bauchi State commissioner of police Aminu Alhassan, stated this while speaking with journalists at the end of their meeting in Bauchi yesterday. He urged political parties and politicians to remain calm and obey the election laws and regulations.

He said all the security agencies are working together to ensure effective security provision and management of the elections.

Alhassan said the meeting was aimed at mapping out strategies on security for the conduct of general election.

The police chief said the ICCES was an ad hoc committee of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), comprising various security agencies to ensure free, fair and credible election in the state.

Also, the resident electoral commissioner (REC) in Bauchi, Alhaji Mohammed Nura, expressed their readiness to conduct election come February 25 in the state.

“We are all ready for peaceful conduct of elections in the state, ICCES and INEC would continue to work in synergy to ensure a safe and secure environment for the election.

“This election is critical and therefore we must all continue to work together to protect the will of the Nigerian people,” he said.

Nura however appealed to the general public and political parties to cooperate with the security agencies and the INEC to conduct peaceful and credible elections.
