Suspected gunmen on Saturday night shot the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the Ogbaku ward in Umunomo Nsokpo in Ogbaku community, in the Mbaitoli local government area of Imo State, Charles Okeh.
Okeh sustained gunshot wounds in his leg and is receiving treatment at an undisclosed location.
Sources told LEADERSHIP that the gunmen gained entry into the compound and laid wait for Okeh who arrived at about 9pm.
The source said “he was returning home when the criminals who were already in his compound attacked him. He raised the alarm and tried running into his house but was shot on one of his legs. The attackers scaled the fence and ran away immediately”.
When contacted, spokesperson for the PDP in Imo state, Collins Opuruozor confirmed the incident and said the party will issue a statement concerning the attack soon.
