Gunmen Kidnap Abia Electoral Commission Chairman

Chairman of Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, Prof. George Chima, has been abducted in Imo State.

An eyewitness account revealed that Prof. Chima was kidnapped on Friday from his Okigwe residence in Imo State while playing host to some guests.

According to the source, the ABSIEC Chairman was said to be playing host to lecturers from Abia State University, Uturu, in his Okigwe home when the hoodlums suspected to be kidnappers, numbering four, stormed the residence, intimidated his visitors and whisked him to an unknown destination.

When contacted, the police public relations officer, PPRO, Henry Okoye, confirmed the ugly incident.

According to him, the police have swiftly swung into action to apprehend the culprits.

His words, “We are aware of the kidnap of Prof. Chima, and investigations have commenced earnestly.

“As I speak, the Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, led the police team to Okigwe. The police are assuring us that we will apprehend the kidnappers.”
