Daredevil armed gunmen have kidnapped a senior staff of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Engr Kingsley Okorafor from his country home, Umuadara Umulogho autonomous community in Obowo local government area of Imo State.
Okorafor was abducted on his way from the wake keep of late Eze Innocent Anyawu, the traditional ruler of Ndihu autonomous community in Obowo LGA, whose burial is slated for Saturday, July 16.
The NDDC official was allegedly trailed after he left the vigil venue for his community, before he was stopped and forced into a waiting car while his car was left abandoned.
The incident was alleged to have occurred less than 3 kilometres from a military checkpoint on the road.
An Imo based Journalist, Ik Iweajunwa, who is a cousin to the kidnapped official confirmed the incident saying “yes it happened but I’m too pained to respond to any questions”.
Already, the traditional ruler of the community, Eze Patrick Uwalaka has confirmed the development.
Meanwhile, the abductors are yet to contact the family of Okorafor to discuss any form of ransom demand.
