Panic erupted in the Yankamaye community, Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State, on Monday night after suspected gunmen invaded the area, killing three persons and forcing many residents to flee their homes.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers stormed the community and opened fire indiscriminately at residents and houses, creating fear and confusion across the area.

The member representing Ghari and Tsanyawa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Sani Bala, confirmed the incident in a statement shared online, disclosing that three bodies had so far been recovered.

“As at the time of this update, three people have been confirmed dead,” the lawmaker stated, while expressing concern over the worsening security situation in the constituency.

A resident, Saifullahi Sorodaya, said many villagers abandoned their homes as the gunmen continued shooting sporadically.

“The attackers entered the town shooting without stopping, and people had no option but to run for their lives,” he said.
