Gunmen Kill 3 Policemen At Checkpoit In Kogi

The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the killing of three of its officers by unknown gunmen at a checking point in Egbe, a community sharing boundary with the neighbouring Kwara State.

The State’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Ovye Aya, who confirmed this to LEADERSHIP in Lokoja, noted that it the incident happened in the early hours of Wednesday.

SP Aya maintained that the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, has deployed a Police tactical team to the area, adding that they were on the trail of the gunmen.

“Yes, I can confirm to you that three of our officers on duty were killed today in Egbe; a border community with Kwara State, by yet to be identified gunmen.

“The Commissioner of Police has deployed tactical squad to the area. We are currently on the trail of this men of the underworld and they will all be arrested,” the PPRO stated.
