‎Gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, have struck again in Ondo State, killing a woman and her daughter during an attack on a poultry farm in Akure, the state capital.
‎
‎The incident, which happened at Igushin via Ala, has heightened concerns over the rising rate of insecurity in the state.
‎
‎Eyewitnesses said the assailants, believed to be about five in number, gained access to the poultry premises by scaling the fence before launching the attack while the victims were at work alongside other staff.
‎
‎According to eyewitness, the gunmen reportedly abducted three persons, causing panic in the area. However, the situation later turned tragic when the bodies of the poultry owner and her daughter were discovered within the premises.
‎
‎A source in the community said, “The attackers came through the fence. They were about five and took three people away. Later, we found the woman who owns the poultry and her daughter dead.”
‎
‎Confirming the tragedy, the state police spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, condemned the attack, describing it as senseless and unfortunate, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives.
‎
‎He disclosed that adequate security measures have been put in place to prevent a recurrence, adding that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the perpetrators of the attack.
‎
‎The police spokesperson said, “The Ondo State Police Command strongly condemns the heinous violent incident at Igushin via Ala, Akure, which led to the tragic loss of two innocent lives. While two victims were successfully rescued through a swift and coordinated operation, the Command expresses deep sorrow over the unfortunate deaths recorded.

‎”The Command assures the people that adequate security measures have been put inplace to ensure security of lives and property while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators, and the command also assures the public that those responsible will be brought to justice.Residents are urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and useful information.”
