GUO Transport Confirms Driver’s Death In Violent Robbery On Okada–Benin Road

GUO Transport Company has confirmed the death of one of its drivers following a violent robbery attack involving one of its vehicles along the Okada–Benin Road.

In an official statement posted on its Facebook page on Tuesday, the company said the incident occurred on Saturday, April 18, 2026, describing it as a “tragic incident” that has left the organisation in mourning.

“It is with profound sadness that GUO Transport Co. confirms a tragic incident involving one of our vehicles on Saturday, April 18, 2026,” the statement read.

According to the company, the vehicle involved was a Toyota Hiace bus that had been dispatched empty from Lagos en route to Onitsha when it was attacked.

“A Toyota Hiace bus, dispatched empty from Lagos to Onitsha, was ambushed by armed robbers along the Okada–Benin Road,” the company disclosed.

GUO confirmed that the attack resulted in the loss of its driver, describing the development as a devastating blow to the organisation.

“We regret to confirm that the incident resulted in the loss of our driver. This is a deeply painful loss to the entire GUO family,” the statement continued.

The company added that its immediate priority is to support the bereaved family during this difficult period, extending condolences while calling for privacy.

“Our immediate focus is to support his family during this difficult time, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to them,” it said.

While acknowledging ongoing efforts by security authorities, GUO urged stronger action to address what it described as persistent insecurity along the route.

“We commend the efforts of the relevant security agencies and government authorities, and we respectfully urge intensified action to address the persistent security challenges on this corridor,” the statement added.

The transport company also expressed appreciation to members of the public for their concern and solidarity, while appealing for sensitivity.

“We appreciate the concern and support shown by the public. We kindly request privacy and respect for the bereaved family as they grieve,” it added.
