The vice chancellor of the Federal University Gusau, Prof Mu’azu Abubakar, has been conferred with an award of fellow of the Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (NSBMB).
The statement by the university’s spokesperson, Dr Linus Akor, said Prof Mu’azu was inducted alongside six other scholars at a grand reception held at the Assembly Hall of Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
Dr Akor stated that the conferment of the prestigious title of a fellow, the highest insignia for deserving members of the 47-year-old Society, was also witnessed by prominent scholars in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
He stressed that the conferment followed the acceptance of Prof Abubakar’s unanimous nomination by the National Executive Committee of NSBMB.
The spokesman further stated that the award letter, which preceded the investiture, dated July 7, 2025, was signed by the secretary general of the society, Prof Abdulkadir Abubakar and addressed to Prof Abubakar.
He said, in the letter, Prof Abdulkadir had noted that the vice chancellor’s elevation as a fellow of the NSBMB, was in recognition of Prof Abubakar’s commitment and contributions to the survival and sustenance of the professional body.
