The Founder of MAAUN Group of Universities, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has donated a fully equipped two-storey building to Alliance Française Kano, along with N10 million to support the centre’s operations.
The building, located at Ahmadiyya Junction along Airport Road, Kano, houses modern classrooms, digital language laboratories, multimedia studios, smart learning boards, high-speed internet, conference halls and a digital resource library. It is considered one of the most advanced French language and cultural training facilities in Northern Nigeria.
The edifice was unveiled by the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Marc Fonbaustier, who commended Prof. Gwarzo for what he described as a remarkable contribution to education and cultural development. He prayed for long life and good health for the donor, noting his consistent support for humanitarian and educational causes.
Prof. Gwarzo said the gesture was aimed at strengthening bilingual education in Kano and giving students access to world-class French language training.
The Director of Alliance Française Kano, Ali Dabo, expressed gratitude to Prof. Gwarzo, saying no individual had transformed the centre to such a standard in its decades of existence. He added that the new building gives the organisation a permanent home after operating from rented spaces for over ten years.
