Some of the citizens who spoke to LEADERSHIP yesterday expressed deep concern over the prevailing economic hardship and the increasing security challenges.

Adamu Abdullahi, a resident of Tudun Wada and a Keke driver, lamented that his family hardly eats more than one square meal daily.

He said, “The suffering in this country is becoming unbearable for us as ordinary Nigerians. We go through hell just to provide food for our families.

“High cost of foodstuffs, transportation, goods and services have made life difficult for many Nigerians.
“I make N1,500 profit every day. All my money goes to buying fuel. It is so painful that as a man, I can’t provide adequately for my family despite all my efforts”.

A widow who is a petty trader in popular central market in Kaduna, Amina Danjuma said, “I don’t know where we are going in this country, things are getting tougher everyday. Can you imagine that a mudu of beans is sold for N3,500. We are just surviving by the grace of God “ she stressed.

Mrs Bridget Haruna who is also a petty trader expressed pains and daily struggles she has to go through to feed her family.

According to her, “I have starved myself severally just to make sure my children eat food, now I have developed ulcer.

“We are not talking about saving for rainy days now, we are struggling just to eat food. I am 50 years plus this year but we have not experienced this kind of bad situation before.

“We are begging president Bola Ahmed Tinubu to please listen to our cries, we are dying of hunger. The suffering is unbearable “.

They all appealed to Tinubu to ease Nigerians’ sufferings, saying that the hardship has led to the collapse of many small businesses and the deaths of many.
