Headies 2025: Iyabo Ojo’s Son-in-Law Juma Jux Wins ‘Best East African Artist’ Award

Tanzanian music star Juma Mussa Mkambala, popularly known as Juma Jux, made history at the Headies Awards 2025, taking home the prestigious ‘Best East African Artist of the Year’ award.

The award ceremony, held on Sunday night at the Eko Convention Centre, Lagos, recognized Juma Jux’s outstanding contribution to the growth and global appeal of East African music.

During his acceptance speech, an emotional Juma Jux expressed deep gratitude, saying: “First, I want to appreciate God, my wifey Priscilla, my management, my family, my JP Lovers, and Headies for believing in East African music.”

LEADERSHIP reports that the Tanzanian artist had last week got married to a Nigerian, Priscillia, daughter of popular Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, at an elaborate wedding ceremonies in Lagos.

The Headies Awards, known for celebrating excellence in the Nigerian music industry, returned to Nigeria this year after two consecutive editions in Atlanta, Georgia. The 2025 ceremony featured 31 categories, including ‘Artiste of the Year,’ ‘Song of the Year,’ and ‘Next Rated,’ highlighting the diversity and talent within the industry.
