To provide quality and affordable healthcare service to the people, the Oyo State government has carried out a comprehensive assessment of 351 primary health centres in to enhance their functionalities.

The state’s commissioner for health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, who made this known during the handover of the report in Ibadan, said the assessment was carried out in collaboration with a non-governmental organisation, First Health Dynamic Synergy International Limited (FHDSIL) to improve  service delivery in each primary healthcare centre in the 351 wards across the state.

Ajetunmobi said the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration had shown enough commitment to the health sector by prioritising primary healthcare due to its closeness to the people at grassroots.

She promised that the ministry would study the report and meet with the contractors on the project done so far in all the PHCs in the state.

She said the report would enable the ministry to have the status of the PHCs selected for renovation so as to move to the next phase.

“We all know that Governor Seyi Makinde is passionate about Primary Health Care because it is easily accessible to the citizenry of the state and wants everybody to remain healthy.

“On this note, we are going to look at the work that has been done in all our primary health facilities and reconfirm with the contractors that handled the projects.

“This will enable us to know the current status of these  centres and move to the next phase,” she added.

The chief executive officer of FHDSIL, Professor Temitope Alonge, said the assessment was part of the efforts to revitalise  primary health care system in Oyo State.

Alonge said the company got an approval in April 2022 from the state government for partnership in optimising healthcare services for the people of Oyo State.
