Long-serving Hezbollah leader, Hassan Nasrallah, has been confirmed dead by the group following Israeli strikes at the militant group’s headquaters in Beirut, the Lebanese capital days ago.

Nasrallah has evaded Israel for years, but he was behind series of attacks targeted at Israeli citizens living around the border with Lebanon. Nasrallah had been one of the best-known and most influential figures in the Middle East.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told  the United Nations General Assembly that his country will continue to defend itself against any group that threatens it and its people even as strikes continue in southern Beirut, on Saturday morning.

Elsewhere, the Israeli military said that it was “attacking” targets in the Bekaa Valley after detecting a rocket fired from Lebanon

On Friday, Lebanese officials said six people were killed and 91 injured in an airstrike, with local officials saying that nearly 800 people have been killed in Israeli strikes in Lebanon since Monday, September 23, 2024.
