The Action People’s Party (APP), Imo State chapter, has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for what it described as the “successful and credible” conduct of the Anambra State governorship election held on Saturday, November 8, 2025.

In a statement signed by the Interim State Executive Committee and made available to newsmen on Sunday, the party’s leader, Hon. Ernest Njesi, praised the INEC chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, and his team for what he called a remarkable improvement in the nation’s electoral process.

“We commend the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, and his officials for the successful conduct of the Anambra State off-season governorship election,” the statement read.

“We particularly appreciate the timely deployment of both sensitive and non-sensitive materials, as well as the almost 100% real-time upload of election results to the IReV. This demonstrates a significant improvement in INEC’s commitment to free, fair, credible, and transparent elections in our country.”

Njesi noted that the outcome of the Anambra poll reflects a positive shift in Nigeria’s democratic journey and underscores the Commission’s renewed dedication to strengthening the electoral process.

“This positive shift is a testament to the Commission’s dedication to strengthening our democratic process,” he added.

The APP also lauded the role of security agencies during the exercise, describing their conduct as professional and commendable.

“We extend our appreciation to the security agencies for their professional disposition throughout the conduct of the election,” the statement further read.

The party urged all political actors and citizens to sustain the spirit of peaceful participation and respect for due process in future elections.
