The Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) has held a technical meeting in preparation for this year’s U-12 and U-15 National Handball Championship. The tournament is scheduled to begin on 25th March 2026 at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Umuahia Township Stadium in Umuahia, Abia State.
The meeting saw the attendance of key officials, including the federation’s Vice President, Otunba Sylvester Ikuejamoye; Technical Director, Coach Bala Mohammed Khalid; North-East Board Member, Alhaji Husseini Abdulkadir; and HFN Secretary, Mrs. Monica Otumala. Other top federation officials, coaches, and team delegates were also present.
Delivering a message from HFN President, Mr. Jibril Ojih Saidu (FNIQS), the Vice President underscored the importance of strict adherence to the established rules and regulations. He warned that any infringements would lead to appropriate penalties, emphasising that compliance is crucial for a high-standard championship.
He further clarified that players who have participated in Division One or the Ardova Handball Premier League are ineligible, as the competition’s primary aim is to develop a robust and competitive cadet team for Nigeria.
Technical Director, Coach Bala Mohammed Khalid, conducted a roll call to confirm the number of participating teams. He welcomed all attendees and reiterated that the championship’s rules and regulations would be rigorously enforced, cautioning that any coach, player, or official found violating the guidelines would face sanctions.
