Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has declared today, Friday, June 27, 2025, as a public holiday across the state, commemorating Hijrah 1447AH.

The commissioner for Home Affairs, Mr. Rasheed Aderibigbe, made this known in a statement in Osogbo. He said that the governor urged residents to use the occasion to pray for sustained peace, progress, and prosperity in Osun State and Nigeria.

The governor also called on all citizens to celebrate the Islamic New Year in peace and harmony, encouraging everyone to shun rancour and embrace unity, which he described as the foundation for sustainable development.

Also, Omooba Dotun Babayomi, a frontline governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, rejoiced with Muslims around the globe, especially those in the country and Osun in particular.

He expressed these in his congratulatory message, which his media office released. He emphasised that the commencement of the new year was another opportunity for spiritual renewal, commitment, and dedication to Allah’s commandments.
