Officials of the Hisbah Agency under the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Kebbi State have raided a hotel in Argungu town, Argungu local government area of the state, arresting 25 persons.

According to the officials, the suspects were arrested for alleged involvement in activities said to contravene Islamic teachings and cultural norms in the state.

This was contained in a statement issued on Saturday in Birnin Kebbi by the agency’s Director of Da’awa and Public Awareness, Malam Sirajo Usman Kamba.

He said the raid followed information provided by residents of the area.

Kamba further disclosed that the agency carried out the operation as part of efforts to curb illicit activities in hotels within the communities.

The statement indicated that the 25 suspects included young women and young men, adding that proper investigations would be conducted before they are handed over to the police for prosecution.

It also called on parents and guardians to closely monitor the movement and whereabouts of their children to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
