With Tottenham Hotspur staring down the barrel of a first relegation from the Premier League since its inception, club icon Glenn Hoddle has thrown his name into the ring, offering to step in and save his beloved side from the drop.

Currently occupying 14th place, Spurs are clinging to a precarious one-point buffer above the relegation zone. A dismal run of 11 league matches without a win has drained the optimism from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, leaving fans braced for the unthinkable.

Speaking on the Could It Be Magic FA Cup podcast, the former Spurs player and manager made it clear he is ready to answer the club’s distress call.

“Particularly with Tottenham, as that’s my club,” Hoddle stated when asked if he would consider a return to the dugout. “I’ve supported them since I was eight years of age. So they were a massive part of my life.”

Hoddle, who previously managed the club between 2001 and 2003, acknowledged that his first stint in charge was hampered by circumstances beyond his control, but hinted that the current situation presents a different kind of challenge—one he feels equipped to handle.

“I managed them probably at the wrong time, I’ve got to say,” Hoddle reflected. “Let’s put it that way. Politically and financially, there wasn’t money there. Certainly, it wasn’t what they told me I was going into.”
