Suspected motorcycle thieves last Friday’s night reportedly stabbed a member of a vigilance group, Samuel Jiyah to death in Lade village in Patigi local government area of Kwara State.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the incident occurred when the victim was returning from Ekati village on a motorcycle.
Jiyah’s assailants, it was learnt, took away his Bajaj motorcycle and other valuables.
The deceased’s in-law, Tsado Isaac, confirmed the incident to LEADERSHIP in Ilorin, the state capital yesterday. He said that the victim was attacked by motorcycle snatchers in Lade village.
“They attacked him when he was returning from Ekati around Gbadebo farms in the night,” Tsadso stated.
A friend of the victim, Gbenga Aro, also confirmed that Jiyah was attacked during the night while returning from his village, adding that, his corpse was found in a bushy area by women who were fetching firewood in the farm on Saturday’s morning.
He added that the deceased’s family members were informed and his corpse was taken to his village, Ekati, where he was buried immediately.
As of the time of filing this report, the spokesman of Kwara State police command, Okasannmi Ajayi, could not be reached for his comments on the incident.
