Their offences range from gross misconduct, kidnapping, attempted murder, stealing, alteration of bank drafts, fake school receipt, examination malpractice, fighting, stabbing of fellow students, acts considered contrary to the students matriculation oath.

Most disgusting is the case of attempted murder on 14th June 2025, by a suspect who invited his girlfriend, Peace, a 100 level student, to the school auditorium.

Determined to kill her for ransom, he armed himself with a kitchen knife, and in the course of their discussion, overpowered the girl, stabbed her twice in the neck and chest region.

Believing Peace was dead, he called her father that his daughter was kidnapped and should pay #2 million for her freedom. Again, he asked the father to send #200,000 as advance payment to show he was serious.

Fortunately, Peace, despite the agony, summoned courage in an unconscious condition, mentioned the name of her friend who attempted to murder her before she was rushed to the hospital for revival.

With the evidence, the school authority declared the suspect wanted, summoned him and arrested him.

In his confession, the suspect said Peace was his girlfriend who he met over a month ago. “I purposely went with the knife to kill her and obtain money from her father. She didn’t offend me, she was even the one that opened her phone for me before l stabbed her twice in the neck and in the chest. That enabled me to call her father.

“I called her father to send N2 million for her release but should send N200,000 first as initial payment. I sent the Palmpay account of my friend in Lagos, Simon Kalu, to him. I have sent money to the account before and once the money is paid, l will tell him to pay it back to me” Prince confessed.

SP Bright Edge, Delta Command Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) confirmed the report, saying that the suspect was in their custody and would be charged to court after investigation must have been concluded.

In an official bulletin released by the management  on July 4, 2025, out of the 19 students with various offences, eight of them were stated to have been expelled from the institution while 11  were rusticated for two semesters each.

The management therefore warned  the expelled students not to be found within and around the university community, while those rusticated are expected to vacate the university and their halls of residence for the period of the semesters they are to observe.

Also contained in the release is a stern caution to students, as the school’s maiden graduation exercise draws near, against organizing unlawful parties, practices of pouring water on fellow students and signing signatures on shirts during signing-out, noting that anyone caught involved would be punished accordingly.
