The protesters, carrying placards with messages such as “End Bad Governance,” “Bring Back Our Fuel Subsidy,” and “Open the Border,” clashed with armed forces stationed at the seat of government.

The situation turned chaotic when some protesters began throwing stones at the security personnel who in response, shot tear gas and fired warning shots into the air to disperse the crowd.

Although no casualties was reported, many individuals were injured in the resulting stampede, while some police officers were also injured from the attack.

Authorities have since blocked all roads leading to the Government House and increased security in the area to prevent further incidents.

Some Kano youths joined the ongoing nationwide protest tagged #EndBadGovernance against hunger and economic hardship in the country.

While the majority of these protests have been peaceful, the confrontation at the Government House and an attempted looting of a store on Zoo Road, which was swiftly stopped by police, have highlighted the growing tension.

LEADERSHIP reports huge turnout of peaceful protesters across Kano State with most of them include youths and children.

Protesters have continued to call for an end to economic hardship, voicing their discontent with the government’s policies.

As the demonstrations continue, the authorities are on high alert while anticipating the gathering of more people and potential clashes.

LEADERSHIP reports on Wednesday that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf extended invitation to the leaders of the protest in Kano to present their demands to the government directly and warned against perpetuating violence while protesting.
