Hydro Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) have handed over N1.2 billion water works project to contractors for total over hauling and reticulation.
The contractor is to ensure total overhauling of the New Bussa water works in Borgu local government area of Niger state.
The managing director of HYPPADEC, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa made this known during the handing over ceremony at the site in New Bussa.
He said if the rehabilitation was completed it would end the over 20 years water scarcity in New Bussa and its environs.
Sadiq Yelwa disclosed that the contract is for a duration of six months for its completion and warned the contractors to ensure contract specifications so as to have value for money or face revocation.
Represented by the director of community and rural development directorate, Dr Mahmud Mohammed Umar, the HYPPADEC boss described the project as a critical project to the commission.
He charged the community to support and take ownership of the contract for optimum results.
The Borgu local government area chairman, Suleiman Yerima appreciates the kind gesture of HYPPADEC, noting that the community has suffered over the years.
The Emir of Borgu Alhaji Mohammed Sani Dantoro represented by the Wazirin Borgu, Alhaji Bala Sa’adu thanked the commission for the intervention to end their long hardship of water scarcity.
