The driver who recorded the incident later shared the clip to the social media thereby sparking outrage and questions amongst netizens.

According to the video, the confrontation occurred Sunday night after the Bolt driver received a delivery request to Ikwechegh’s residence at the Lavida Court in Maitama, behind the Farmers Market in Abuja.

According to the driver, the altercation began when he asked Ikwechegh to retrieve his delivery and settle the payment.

The driver alleged that Ikwechegh slapped him three times and made threatening comments including warning that he could make the driver “disappear and nothing will happen.”

During the exchange captured in the video, Ikwechegh slapped the driver three times and justified his actions by claiming that the driver disrespected him.

“You came into my house to disrespect me, I will deal with you,” he said.

“Do you know who I am? I just slapped you and there’s nothing you can do. My name is Honourable Alex Ikwechegh tell them I slapped you.”

He further taunted the driver, inviting him to retaliate, “I just slapped you, please slap me back. How dare you, do you know who I am?”

The video also featured Ikwechegh questioning the person who arranged the delivery, addressing the driver with derogatory terms.

He expressed disbelief at the driver’s request for him to come to the car to collect his items, calling him unprintable names.

The incident has drawn significant media attention, with many calling for accountability from elected officials.

LEADERSHIP recalls that the lawmaker succeeded Honourable Emeka Nnamani at the House of Representatives after he was sacked by the court in September 2023 over certificate forgery.
