Benue State governor, Hyacinth Alia, has declared that he cannot tender apologies to anyone, vowing that nobody can frustrate him to abandon his covenant with the people of the state.

Governor Alia said he is determined to bring more development stressing that he would rewrite the story of the state for good.

Though, Governor Alia did not mention the name of the person he was referring to that cannot frustrate him.

The chief press secretary to the governor, Sir Tersoo Kula, in a statement on Friday said
Governor Alia has set March 30, 2026, as a deadline for appointees of his administration who are eyeing elective positions in the forthcoming general elections to resign from their current positions.

He said he was determined to maintain the state’s development tempo and would not want anyone to delay any process that would yield results in that regard.

The governor dropped this hint last Wednesday while addressing the Muslim faithful he hosted to an Iftar (breaking of fast) at the New Banquet Hall of Government House, Makurdi.

He said the earlier those who want to resign tender the resignation letters, the better as it will give him a clear direction to get other hands that will fill the position for continuation.

Emphasising the need for people of genuine mind for development to join hands with him to sustain the tempo of development of the state, the governor stated that, “I invite all people of good conscience to join hands with me so that we can make Benue a place that attracts everybody.

“When you see earthmoving machines working on our hitherto dilapidated roads, that is development. When you see civil servants going to work and closing happily, that is development.
