Former President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that he relies on rental income from one of his houses in Kaduna to cover his feeding expenses, emphasising that he did not enrich himself while in office.

Buhari made this disclosure during an All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus meeting held at the Presidential Banquet Hall, Government House, in Katsina last weekend.

Reflecting on his time in power, he described Nigeria as a difficult country to govern, noting that many citizens do not fully grasp the complexities of leadership.

“Nigeria is a difficult country to govern, but most Nigerians are unaware. You will not understand the complexities of leadership and the country itself until you find yourself in the administrative position of the country,” he said.

The former president also commented on his well-being since leaving office, stating that he looked healthier than when he was in power.

“I look much better and healthier now than when I was the president of the country. Anybody that sees me now acknowledges that I look better than before,” he remarked.

Buhari further revealed that, despite serving two terms as Nigeria’s leader, he owned only three houses—one in his hometown of Daura and two in Kaduna.

“After my eight years as a civil president, I have only three houses; one in Daura and two in Kaduna. I have given one out for renting where I get money for feeding,” he stated.
