VeryDarkMan has revealed that he obtained an audio recording of Bobrisky from an individual to whom Bobrisky is indebted.
The activist appeared before the House of Representatives Joint Committee on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions yesterday to address bribery allegations involving officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Haliru Nababa, the controller-general of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
Initially, VeryDarkMan hesitated to speak to the committee without Bobrisky present, but his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, convinced him to proceed.
During his testimony, VeryDarkMan disclosed that he received the widely circulated audio recording from someone who had lent money to Bobrisky.
He alleged that the amount was provided to Bobrisky while the EFCC detained her on June 19, 2024.
“I came into possession of that recording because Bobrisky was blackmailing someone they owed money to,” he explained. “The individual lent Bobrisky N4 million during her detention or while in a private residence. This transaction was made to a Kuda account belonging to Abiodun Okuneye, who appears to be her brother. When it came time to repay the loan, the lender requested the money back to settle his bills in Lagos, but Bobrisky failed to respond.”
The Abuja-based fitness expert claimed that Bobrisky resorted to blackmailing the lender when repayment was due.
“I have a chat where Bobrisky was pressuring the individual for immediate repayment after seeing my video, as well as the messages where she attempted to blackmail him about the loan,” he continued.
He quoted a message from the lender to Bobrisky: “Dear Bobrisky, this is a reminder for the return of the loan amount of N4 million as agreed. The due date for repayment is September 1.” He noted that Bobrisky initially set that date.
The lender then stated, “Please use the attached details to make the refund,” but after receiving no payment, he contacted VeryDarkMan.
The conversation included the lender expressing frustration: “I helped you when you needed assistance, but now, when it’s time to repay, you are blackmailing me.” Bobrisky responded dismissively: “When you kissed and smooched me, did you give me any money? I didn’t ask you for money because I’m fine. If not for the EFCC, I wouldn’t be contacting you. Go ahead and call me out; I will respond to you on Instagram. You know I’m unashamed and indifferent. I have your account information, and you will get your money. I don’t want to seem ungrateful, but giving me a 24-hour request is too much.”
VeryDarkMan indicated that he would present this evidence, along with additional recordings.
While he did not reveal specific names, he submitted part of the audio recording to the committee as evidence. Previously, VeryDarkMan had shared another audio clip in which Bobrisky allegedly claimed to have bribed EFCC officials with N15 million to dismiss the money laundering charges against her.
Meanwhile, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday said it dropped the money laundering charges against Nigerian cross-dresser Idris Okuneye (also known as Bobrisky because of his confessional statement on naira abuse.
This was just as the Nigerian Correctional Service, formally known as Prisons, said it did not put Bobrisky inside the general cell population because he is transgender and has female features, which could have exposed him to sexual abuse.
The two Federal institutions made their positions known when they appeared at the House of Representatives Joint Committee on EFCC and Correctional Service investigative hearing on their alleged collection of a N15 million bribe to drop money laundry charges against Bobrisky.
The EFCC prosecutor, Bilikisu Buhari, told the Committee that money laundering charges were dropped based on Bobrisky’s confessional statement on naira abuse in court, adding that it was within the Commission’s power to amend charges.
“There is no form of financial inducement to any commission member. All we did was in line with the core values of the commission,” she noted.
While testifying before the Committee, Deputy Controller of Kirikiri Correctional Centre, Michael Anugwa, declared: “We Didn’t Put Bobrisky inside the General Cell Population Because he is Transgender and has female features.
“If we had put him in the General Cell with the rest of the inmates, they would have ‘Kpaied’ Bobrisky overnight. Kirikiri Prison is filled with lots of hardened criminals who are convicted rapists and even many convicted for sodomy.”
Meanwhile, Bobrisky was absent at the House’s probe as his lawyer, Avwerosuoghene Omuvwie, told the lawmakers that his client could not honour the panel’s invitation due to Illness.
However, when the committee questioned that he provided it with evidence from Bobrisky’s doctor on his health, the counsel said he had no such document.
When called upon to testify, Martins Vincent Otse (also known as Very DarkMan), who circulated the publication indicting the EFCC and the Nigerian Correctional Service, declined comments, saying he would die if he said anything because Bobrisky was absent.
He said: “I don’t know why I will be here, but the person who made these allegations is not here.
“Bobrisky said in the voice note that there is a godfather. Maybe the godfather told him not to come. He has disrespected this committee by not coming here.
“You are already threatening me with arrest. If you detain me, I will stay in the cell. If Bobrisky is not here, I will not say anything. If I say anything, let me die.”
However, Committee Members ordered Verydarkman to return and answer questions, adopting his claims or risk being detained by the parliament.
The Chairman, Hon Ginger Obinna, stressed that Verydarkman cannot dictate the proceedings, including Bobrisky’s presence, as that decision lies with the Committee.
He said, “You are not expected to dictate whether Bobrisky comes here; it is left to us to decide. We can also compel him to come before us and invoke our powers to arrest him. We can compel Bobrisky to appear before us and even arrest him if necessary.”
“Your allegations have led to the invitation of top government officials, so you must speak to these allegations. You are here already to testify; I will advise you to go ahead; don’t let anyone deceive you. To the lawyer, please advise your client.”
