A 31-year-old suspect, Yusuf Adenoyin, who was arrested by the police with eight human skulls and fresh human flesh in Isua-Akoko, Ondo State, has said he ventured into the business to raise N2 million to pay for his sick mother’s treatment in the hospital.
Narrating how he ventured into the business, Adenoyin told journalists when he was paraded at the Police Command headquarters at Alagbaka, Akure, the state capital on Wednesday that he was into the palm oil business and cashew nuts and reselling them before he met the buyer on Facebook.
He claimed that the doctor treating his sick mother in a hospital in Kogi State told him that he needed a sum of N2 million to get her treated.
Adenoyin, who is based in Osogbo, Osun State capital, said he had to look for an alternative when he realised that his previous business could not yield the needed return and that he needed the money.
He said, “This will be my third time in this business. On the first trip, I sold four, the second time three and the latest eight. This fetch comprises both human parts and a dog heart. I bought the dog heart at Ibillo.
“I usually buy the skull from my friend Ismaila, who gets it from burial grounds. Before I ventured into this business, I was buying red oil and cashew nuts and reselling them.
“My mother has been sick; we took her to Lokoja, and the doctor said we needed N2 million to revive her, so I had no choice but to venture into the skull business. I intended to leave it once I gathered the money.
“So far, from the seven that I have sold, I’ve made N245,000. I sold them to different people. I met the buyer on Facebook. He told me that he’s an herbalist.”
Parading the suspect, the police commissioner, Abayomi Oladipo, said Adenoyin was arrested on Monday by officers attached to Police Safer Highway patrol at Isua/Epinmi checkpoint.
