A statement issued by the police spokesperson, ASP Munsir Hassan, said that on June 11, 2024, at about 0500 hours, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Maigana received a distress call from Yakasai Village that one Abubakar Sale, also from Yakasai, had been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

Upon receipt of the information, he said the DPO led a combined team of policemen and the vigilante to the scene. The team tracked the bandits from Yakasai to Awai Village, where they found the victim unharmed in a hut.

According to the statement, the criminals tried to flee but the police successfully arrested two suspects: Abdulmumini Auta, 60 years old, and Garba Shehu, 30 years old, both from Yakasai Village. Additionally, seven suspected rustled cows abandoned by the fleeing kidnappers were recovered while an investigation into the case is currently ongoing.

In the same vein, he said, “On 12th June 2024, at about 11:45 hours, a team of officers from the Zaria City Division, acting on intelligence, intercepted and arrested one Ibrahim Sa’idu, 35, of Kadage, Giwa Local Government Area, and one Hayatu Sa’idu, 35, of Rafin Yashe, Zaria local government area, near the Gwargwaje by Galadimawa Junction.
