The senator who represented Kaduna South Senatorial District, Danjuma La’ah, has said he initiated and sponsored the bill for the establishment of Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia (FUASK) during his tenure in the 8th and 9th Senate.
La’ah, who was deputy minority whip in the 9th Senate, said while the bill was not assented to by the late President Muhammadu Buhari, he credited his successor for reintroducing the legislation, which received presidential assent under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He praised President Tinubu for making quality education accessible and affordable to most Nigerians, adding that the people of Southern Kaduna were clear beneficiaries of the education component of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
La’ah congratulated the management and pioneer students of the university on the matriculation of its inaugural cohort.
The ceremony, held on December 20, 2025, formally admitted the first cohort of students into the institution, marking a milestone in the educational development of Southern Kaduna.
In a statement he issued on Monday, La’ah commended Prof. Williams Qurix, the vice-chancellor, the management and staff members, describing the event as the fulfilment of a long-standing aspiration of the people of Southern Kaduna for improved access to quality tertiary education.
La’ah urged the students to pursue academic excellence with discipline and integrity, noting that they bore the responsibility of laying a strong foundation and building a sustainable academic culture for future generations.
