17-year-old intelligent Nafisa Abdullahi Amimu was all smiles as she received her LEADERSHIP award yesterday as the ‘Young College Person of the Year’ and said this is one of her favourite awards as she didn’t see it coming.
The student from Yobe State, who was crowned the World’s Best in English Language Skills at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals in London, said in an interview that the award will encourage her more than ever to pursue her dreams.
Speaking on how she feels about receiving LEADERSHIP Awards, Nafisa says, “I feel great. I have received awards before, but this is one of my most favourite because I wasn’t expecting this, it was a grand event seeing so many great people here. It means a lot to me”.
Sharing how to be an award-winning student, Nafisa, who plans to study International Relations at the University, said students must know their goals and work hard to achieve them.
”To be an award-winning student, you have to study hard to achieve your goals. For me, I plan to study International Relations abroad so that I can get more opportunities to create changes. To achieve this, I need to work harder and raise the bar,” says the eloquent speaking prodigy.
Nafisa outperformed more than 20,000 students from 69 countries to win the prestigious English-language competition, which tests proficiency, critical thinking, and communication skills.
She represented Nigeria through the Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC) in Yobe State.
