Content creator, Arua Kevin Chinedu, popularly known as Kevinblak, has publicly rejected what he described as an invitation to join President Bola Tinubu’s campaign team, saying he would never align himself with what he called injustice against Nigerians.
In a video shared on his Facebook page on Wednesday, Kevinblak expressed shock over the alleged message urging him to support the president’s campaign.
He maintained that his stance was rooted in principle rather than profit.
“This is my humble reply: I will never be a part of this injustice done to my people. I will never be a part of people who do not have provision for education, healthcare, water and the basic amenities,” he declared.
“You have the mind to send me this kind of message to join the campaign for Tinubu,” he said.
“When I saw the message, for some seconds I asked myself, how have I presented myself for some people to look at me and say this looks like one of them, we can just give him money and change his life? It was disturbing.”
The skit maker said the issue was serious, explaining why he appeared visibly concerned in the video.
“That’s why you are not seeing me in a governor’s costume today because it’s a serious matter,” he said, suggesting he had set aside his usual comic persona to address the development.
Kevinblak stressed that his creative work goes beyond partisan politics.
“My content is not just about Tinubu, it’s bigger than Nigeria, it’s about the entire Africa,” he said.
Responding to what he described as confrontational advice that he should join the Tinubu campaign team to gain access to a bigger platform than the “crumbs” he earns from Facebook, the content creator dismissed suggestions that financial gain was his motivation.
“I am a graduate of Physics/Electronics, so I didn’t join content because I want to make money. If I leave content today, I’d still be fine,” he said.
Kevinblak also issued a warning to anyone who might send him similar messages in the future.
“Next time if you send me this kind of message, I will share your number online so that Nigerians who are suffering can message you,” he said.
