FCT Polls: Atiku, Obi Mobilise Voters For ADC, Say Outcome Will Test INEC’s Credibility

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has intensified its campaign for the February 21 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections, urging residents to turn out in large numbers and vote out the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
A former presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar, disclosed he was in Gwarinpa on Wednesday, alongside other ADC leaders, including former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, to canvass support for the party’s candidates.

According to him, the visit was part of efforts to mobilise voters ahead of Saturday’s council polls across the FCT.
He described the election as a test of the credibility of Nigeria’s electoral process, saying it would reflect the readiness of election managers to conduct free, fair and transparent polls.
“This election is very important. It will say a lot about how ready the managers of our elections are to deliver free, fair and credible polls,” he stated.

The former Vice President also said the outcome of the polls would indicate whether residents of the FCT were prepared to reject the APC at the grassroots level.
The ADC chieftain urged voters to support his party’s candidates across all the six area councils, insisting that the party had presented individuals with competence, capacity and character to provide quality leadership.

He called on residents to resist any form of intimidation and exercise their civic responsibility without fear.

Taking a swipe at the APC-led Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu, he accused the administration of failing to address key national challenges, including economic hardship, insecurity and declining education standards.

He further alleged that the government had plunged more citizens into poverty and allowed criminal elements to operate with impunity.
