This was contained in a press release issued to LEADERSHIP in Jalingo, and signed by Yusuf Sanda, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Agbu Kefas, saying that, the governor has signed an Executive Order mandating the immediate commencement and completion of the payments.

“The Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas, has issued an Executive Order to ensure the immediate commencement and completion of all outstanding pensions, gratuities, and related entitlements for all verified pensioners in the state.”

It described the move as a demonstration of his “administration’s commitment to the welfare of senior citizens who diligently served the state with dedication.

“Taraba State must honour those who have dedicated their lives to public service. Their dignity is non-negotiable, and attending to their welfare is our moral duty,” Governor Kefas was quoted as saying in the statement.

As part of the measures to cushion the plight of pensioners, a special outreach team will be deployed to all local government areas, wards, and villages to identify and document pensioners who are alive, but incapacitated.

“The initiative aims to ensure that such individuals receive their entitlements without obstacles.”

The governor, also instructed the state Ministry of Finance to submit weekly compliance reports directly to the Governor’s office.

According to the statement, the government will not tolerate any delays in carrying out the order, emphasizing that “no administrative obstacles will be tolerated in this process.”

The government, in the statement urged pensioners to remain calm, assuring them that the process is being handled with urgency, and prioritised at the highest level.
