History will be made today as Sen. Beatrice Ogolla Becomes the first female Senator in East Africa to be appointed as an Eminent Peace Ambassador EPA by the International Association of World Peace Advocates IAWPA.
The award will be presented to her by Amb. Lawrence Oluwaseun Adeniyi the IAWPA SDG Focal Person to the UN on behalf of the association. In a similar vein, Amb. Lawrence is presently participating in the ongoing United Nations High Level Political Forum in New York where he is representing the Association to promote Sustainable Development Goals SDG. Amb Lawrence also hopes to use the forum to call on African leaders to ensure the quick implementation of the UN-SDG before the year 2030.
A statement by the International Spokesman of the association Amb Emmanuel Nkweke said Sen Beatrice Ogolla is being honoured by the association for her contributions to peace in Kenya and also to east Africa. “despite being in the opposition in her native Kenya, the vibrant leader and humanitarian has shown commitment to peace and the values of the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN hence our decision to honour her with this prestigious appointment as an Eminent Peace Ambassador. By this appointment, we expect to see her making strong statements on crisis not only in Kenya, but in other parts of Eastern Africa especially on the conflict in Sudan which has led to thousands of deaths and destruction of properties”
Amb Nkweke also stated that by this appointment and considering her political profile, she will form part of the committee being raised by the African Director of IAWPA Amb Johnny Metchie to help mediate on the Sudan crisis.
While congratulating her on the appointment as the first female serving Senator in Kenya and east Africa to be appointed as an Eminent Peace Ambassador by the association, Amb Emmanuel Nkweke called on her to proactively pursue and advocate for peace so the world will acknowledge her efforts.
