In a brief ceremony at the club House in Asokoro, Abuja, Justice Dongban-Mensem charged the committee to swing into action immediately and rebrand the club.

Recall that the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, had on April 26 approved the appointment of a ten-member IMC chaired by Peter Deshi, former president of Nigeria Golf Federation (NGF),to oversee the club’s administration.

This was in bid to stabilise the leadership crisis at the club, following the postponement of the club’s April 26 Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Other members of the IMC are Otunba Gbengba Elegbeleye, Arc. Nanwor Mamven, Mrs. Ekanem Ekwueme, Arc. Arabi Bello, Lawan Aboki, Okey Nnaedozie, Fred Otobo, Julius Fadairo and Barr. Yomi Oyelola, who serves as the secretary of the committee .

Inaugurating the IMC, BOT Chairman highlighted the need the committee to work together as team, adding that the club was set to undergo a lot of changes.

“I am very delighted to convey this meeting in view of the inauguration of the IMC.

This has become necessary with the power conferred on the Board to oversee the activities of the Interim Management Committee.

“It is very important to mention at this point that, there will be a total facelift of the club and its activities. It is also apt to mention that the golf course and the range will now be professionally maintained.

“When the IBB International Golf & Country Club is eventually opened, members will have to go through profiling and security checks which will entail each member signing an undertaking that they will leave the club as they found it without any rancour,” she said.

The BOT Chairman emphasised the FCT Administration’s commitment to restoring order and efficiency to the club, adding that the FCT Minister was a partner in progress and would ensure that the club regained its international standard.

“I want to reassure everyone that with the support which we are getting from the Honourable Minister of FCT, His Excellency Barrister Nyesom Wike;

“I assure you all that, under my leadership, this Board of Trustees will ensure IBB Golf Club achieves its International standard, regain its prestigious status and become a reference point for other Golf Courses in the World.

“Once again, thank you all and we look forward to us working as a team to make IBB International Golf & Country Club the iconic brand of Nigeria and a World Tourism Centre,” she said.

The IMC Chairman, who spoke on behalf of the committee, pledged their commitment to work on collaborating with the BOT, in revitalising the golf club.
