Former military president, Gen. IbrahimĀ  Babangida, has described the Mokwa flood disaster as unfortunate and enjoined residents to pray for the deceased.

While commiseratingĀ  with the people of Mokwa and the entire state over the recent flood disaster, Babangida who received a state government delegation led by the deputy governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba on a Salah homage at his residence in Minna, sought divine comfort for the victims.

Gen. Babangida said though what happened in Mokwa was unfortunate, it should be divinely viewed as ordained by Allah.

He enjoined residents of the state to continue to pray for the souls of the deceased.

Similarly, he lauded the state government for its development strides and called for sustenance while assuring of his continued support.

Earlier, Comrade Yakubu Garba said the visit was to seek his blessings and fatherly advice.

He said the government was well aware that the General was disturbed by the recent incident in Mokwa and appreciated him for his fatherly role at all times.

Comrade Garba said the people of Niger State and Nigeria in general were appreciative of his diligent service to the country and assured him that the state government would not fail him as he remained a pillar of hope for the nation.
