Igbowood Films has inaugurated a new executive team as part of efforts to promote unity and strengthen the reach of Igbo cultural heritage and language globally.
At the event in Abuja yesterday, Amb Happy Julian Uchendu, said the inauguration marked a defining shift from informal creativity to structured excellence within the industry.
“This signals the beginning of a more coordinated and intentional entertainment ecosystem—one where talent is not just discovered, but strategically nurtured, positioned and exported globally,” she said.
According to her, the industry is moving into an era where storytelling will be backed by systems, planning and strong institutional frameworks.
“I see an industry that will no longer operate in fragments, but as a unified force capable of competing on the global stage while preserving our cultural identity,” she added.
Uchendu noted that this is a season where creativity meets structure, which is essential for true industry growth.
She stressed that Igbowood must go beyond content production to building a global cultural experience.
Also, Maureen Ebele Gilbert, Mayor of the Abuja Chapter, noted that at this stage, Igbowood requires structure, investment and capacity development.
“Sustainability is not built on talent alone, but on systems that outlive individuals. This is a new beginning. To creatives—sharpen your craft. To producers—commit to quality and collaboration.
To sponsors—this is an opportunity to invest in a growing cultural force. Igbowood is not just an industry—it is a platform for identity, opportunity, and legacy,” she said.
Similarly, the national president of Igbowood Films, Hon. Dr. James Lucky Ikezuo, described Igbowood as more than an organisation.
“Igbowood Films is more than an organisation—it is a movement. A movement to preserve the Igbo language, tell our stories, and showcase our identity to the world with pride and excellence,” he said.
“Together, we will launch talents, strengthen unity, and build a platform that empowers both present and future generations,” he said.
