Thai health authorities have launched an investigation into a medical clinic in Bangkok following the death of 43-year-old Nigerian-British businessman Igho Ubiribo, who died after a cosmetic procedure.

The Department of Health Service Support, under Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health, inspected the clinic following directives from Public Health Minister Pattana Promphat.

According to official statements, clinic records indicate Ubiribo was a regular patient who had received four previous filler procedures between 2024 and 2025. On March 5, 2026, he underwent a fifth procedure involving a cosmetic filler injection.

Following the procedure, Ubiribo collapsed at a nearby hotel and was rushed to Sukhumvit Hospital, where emergency medical personnel performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation for over 100 minutes before declaring him deceased on March 6. Subsequent post-mortem findings confirmed the presence of filler material in his lungs, indicating a fatal blood clot.

Director-General of the DHSS, Phuwadej Surakhot, confirmed that health authorities are gathering comprehensive evidentiary reports to refer the matter to Thailand’s Medical Council for evaluation of compliance with professional medical standards.
