The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, has directed the Katsina State Police Command to strengthen security measures around schools across the state to ensure the safety of students and staff.

The directive was conveyed by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, Sulaiman Abdul, during a two-day operational tour of Katsina State.

Speaking during the visit, the DIG said the police command had been instructed to intensify patrols, improve intelligence gathering and maintain a strong security presence around educational institutions.

According to him, the measures were aimed at preventing violent crimes and creating a safe environment for teaching and learning across the state.

As part of the tour, DIG Abdul visited the Police Children School and the Government Girls Technical and Commercial College in Charanchi local government area of the State to assess existing security arrangements.

He inspected key security infrastructure, including perimeter fencing, access control points, security posts and the deployment of police personnel within the schools.

The DIG also held separate meetings with school management teams to obtain first-hand information on security challenges affecting their institutions.

During the discussions, he encouraged school administrators to strengthen access control measures and remain vigilant against potential threats.

He further advised school authorities to promptly report any suspicious activities within and around their premises to security agencies for immediate action.

The visit formed part of ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to enhance school safety and protect educational institutions from security threats across the country.
