The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate deployment of the FID – Intelligence Response Team (IRT) tactical team to prioritise the safe rescue of Afenifere youth leader Prince Eniola Ojajuni.

Ojajuni was kidnapped over a week ago while on his way to Abuja.

The order is coming a few days after the release of a video where he is seen begging for N100 million
contribution to meet the ransom demanded by his abductors for his release.

Confirming the directive, the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the police are committed to ensuring the safe return of the victim, who has been reportedly shot by his abductors.

“The NPF is fully committed to the safe return of Prince Ojajuni and is deploying all necessary resources and expertise to achieve this objective,” the FPRO said.

The police, however, urged the public to exercise caution and refrain from engaging in social media speculation or sharing unverified information regarding the ongoing rescue efforts, noting that “such activities can inadvertently jeopardise the operation and potentially endanger the safety of the victim.”

Adejobi further assured that the Nigeria Police Force would continue to actively pursue and dismantle all criminal elements operating within the communities, with the ultimate goal of establishing peace and safety.

LEADERSHIP recalls that Ojajuni made appeals in the viral video, begging Nigerians to help him raise the N100 million ransom demanded by the kidnappers who threatened to kill him by 3 pm on Monday.

The trending video showed the disturbed Afenifere youth chieftain pleading for his life.

Also seen in the video was a kidnapper pointing an AK-47 at Ojajuni’s chest as he appealed to the public for financial assistance to secure his release.

However, after the expiration of the Monday deadline, the kidnappers included two tricycles in their N100 million being demanded as ransom to free the embattled Afenifere chieftain.
