Kelechi Iheanacho continued his remarkable start to life at Bursaspor on Monday, scoring twice as the Turkish side came from behind to beat Manisa FK 2-1 at the Manisa 19 Mayıs Stadium.
The Nigeria international cancelled out Cheikne Sylla’s 20th-minute opener seven minutes later, producing a superb individual effort to restore parity.
Iheanacho collected the ball on the edge of the penalty area, drove past several defenders before unleashing a low finish beyond Manisa goalkeeper Vedat KarakuÅŸ and into the bottom corner.
The former Celtic striker then completed the turnaround in stoppage time, reacting quickest after a mistake by KarakuÅŸ to fire home from close range and seal all three points for Bursaspor.
The brace extended Iheanacho’s extraordinary scoring streak since joining the Turkish club during the summer transfer window.
The 29-year-old has now scored in six consecutive Turkish 1. Lig matches, finding the net against Bodrum FK, Igdir FK, Karagümrük, Kayserispor, Istanbulspor and Manisa FK.
He has scored eight goals and provided two assists in his opening six league appearances, underlining his immediate impact following his move to Bursaspor.
The latest victory also maintained Bursaspor’s strong start to the campaign, with Iheanacho emerging as the focal point of their attack.
His prolific form will also provide encouragement for Nigeria as the Super Eagles continue preparations for their upcoming international assignments.
