Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has charged students of the Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, to always hold the management of the institution accountable.

Ikpeazu stated this while receiving the report of the task force on the restoration of accreditation of the polytechnic at the Governor’s Lodge, Aba.

He said the major challenges facing the polytechnic were the inability of the management to match their expenses with their income, and the need to consistently increase the student population.

The governor challenged the management and council of the polytechnic to sit up, adding that his administration would continue to pay the subventions, which he described as government’s statutory obligation to its tertiary institutions.

Presenting the report, the chairman of the task force, Prof Ikechi Mgbeoji, said  the de-accreditation of the polytechnic few months ago came as a rude shock to the people.

Mgboji expressed gratitude to the governor for providing the sum of N450m as bail out to the polytechnic.

He announced that the task force verified staff of the polytechnic and paid their salaries in addition to identifying the challenges and proffering solutions to them.
