Abia State government has accused the former commissioner for Information, Okiyi Kalu, of stoking division between the governor, Alex Otti and President Bola Tinubu.

The governor’s chief press secretary, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, made the allegation yesterday in a press statement in Umuahia, the state capital, warning him to refrain from the action.

“This ugly development exposes the so-called Abia opposition’s reckless desperation to undermine and destabilise the state and, in extension, the South East.”

“The government views the divisive antics as a clear manifestation of the opposition’s lack of ideas and inability to articulate a credible alternative vision for the state,” the statement said.

According to the statement, the government reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare and development of the state and the people. The antics against Otti and Tinubu will not deter it.

“The governor is committed to continuing to work closely with the federal government under President Tinubu’s leadership to drive progress and prosperity in the state.”

The statement warned him and the opposition to desist from their actions, as the state’s people would not be swayed by their desperate attempts to destabilise it.

He therefore advised: “All citizens are hereby urged to remain vigilant and continue to reject the Abia opposition’s toxic politics.”
