Messi landed a record-extending eight Ballon d’Or award last Monday in Paris.

The Qatar 2022 World Cup winner, finished ahead of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe to clinch the award.

He started off his football career in Europe at Barcelona where he spent three years at the club’s youth side from 2000 to 2003.

In 2004, he made his senior debut before departing in 2021 for Paris Saint-Germain and spent two seasons at the French capital.

He currently plies his trade for Major League Soccer (MLS) side Inter Miami.

When asked if there is the possibility of him returning to Europe, Messi said he doesn’t see himself back there.

“Thanks to God, I had an extraordinary career in Europe and won everything I have dreamed of,” Messi told L’Équipé via Fabrizio Romano on X.

“Now that I have decided to come to USA, I don’t think I will ever return to playing in Europe.”

At Barcelona, Messi won LaLiga, Copa del Rey, Spanish Super Cup, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

At PSG he won two Ligue 1 title and the French Super Cup and helped Inter Miami win a first-ever trophy when they landed the League Cup this year.
